hubris. + feather mountain + monosphere - prog metal - Kieler Schaubude
Hubris. A Swiss post-rock band originating in Fribourg. Formed in 2014, the instrumental quartet is characterised by their original style which blends an experimental touch of post-rock, electronica atmosphere and some elements of the metal scene. They draw their inspiration from bands like Jakob, This Will Destroy You, Tides of Man or Jon Hopkins amongst others. With their introspection-evoking style, hubris. reveal themselves with the length of their compositions, permitting an evolution encompassing softness as well as intensity. Sometimes compared with other artists like Sigur Rós or Long Distance Calling (Daily-Rock), the band calls forth emotions of its audience due to a heterogeneous musical landscape mixing poetic ambiance and raw energy.
FEATHER MOUNTAIN The Copenhagen prog metal quartet FEATHER MOUNTAIN writes music that utilizes the contrasts from the heaviness of metal and the dreaminess of alternative rock. As the band moniker FEATHER MOUNTAIN illustrates, the contrasts and nuances are pivotal to the band, which seeks towards creating sound and images that encompasses the duality and complexity of existence within its whole musical totality. A performance with FEATHER MOUNTAIN is much more than a musical experience. The band has a live show with a core made of storytelling and a feminine masculinity. Dressed in flowers and illuminated by a unique light set-up, the band invites the listener into a universe where vulnerability and aggression nourish each other. FEATHER MOUNTAIN have proved themself as a live band in 2023 supporting VOLA, and playing critically acclaimed performances at Copenhagen Metal Fest, Roskilde Festival and Euroblast Festival. FEATHER MOUNTAIN’s latest album ‘To Exit A Maelstrom’ thematizes the experience of the band’s bassist and drummer’s loss of their father to Alzheimer’s disease. A disease that slowly dissolves a human being and ultimately transforms the familiar into something alien. The band members felt that they were caught in a maelstrom, where one is swallowed by unrejectable, external incoming circumstances beyond personal control and risk drowning and being devoured. At the same time, the album is about finding one’s way out of the maelstrom, to heal one’s wounds and return to life with new perspectives, which are undeniably delivered to those, who once stood on the bottom and gazed upwards.
